Self vs. Self

~ Discover who you truly are beneath all thoughts and appearances. ~

Imagine a life in which you had a constant companion by your side, tracing your every thought, action and emotion.

How would it make you feel? The idea that your each move is being constantly monitored, evaluated and commented upon?

The fact is, this is exactly what is happening in our mind, whether we are aware of it or not.

Our only choice in the matter is to decide just how judgmental we will allow ourselves to be.

And yet, how different our life could be if our inner commentator were loving, nurturing and compassionate instead of judgmental, critical and unforgiving?

When we are able to expand our heart with unconditional love and acceptance for this ever-present companion within and its oftentimes unrelenting mind chatter, no matter how unloving it may be, that we can find true peace and contentment in our life.

As a mother unconditionally loves her child, instead of rejecting or punishing him for his wrongdoings, she patiently watches, observes and guides him, knowing that her patience, love and care will mend all her child's emotional upheavals and turmoils.

The mother is the representation of our true, unconditionally loving, higher Self. The child, however misbehaved, is our small self, one that lends us the feeling of individuality and separation, which allows each one of us to operate at various evolutionary stages. The less we identify with this small sense of "self", the part of ourselves that keeps us separate, the more awakened we will become and the easier our life will be.

This ever-present companion, this small "self", is an inevitable part of ourselves. It is the aspect of our being which is reactive by nature and which often falsely claims to be our true identity.

It isn't.

Our true Self, our true nature, is the one that observes it all - the witness consciousness.

Our true nature is expansive, unconditionally loving and when fully awakened, it blossoms into the consciousness of Oneness, inherently aware of its own interconnectedness with all of life.

We do not need to be run by our thoughts, feelings or emotions. In other words, our "companion" is just there to make our human world a much more familiar place and provide us with a sense of individuality.

Our small "self" lends us our own individual point of view, but it is necessary that we become aware of this view being limited to our subjective human experiences and conditioned perception. It makes a constant mental and emotional commentary, the inner "chatter", to help us better orientate in the world around us, but its capacity is limited to just that.

It is crucial, however, that we do not let this small "self" run our world, but rather befriend it and lovingly accept it, as part of the "deal" of being human.

Our true nature, our higher "Self", is a portal of universal wisdom and our personal connection to the highest vibrational frequency and the consciousness of Oneness. It is the ever-present awareness resting in the background of our daily existence, manifesting itself as the peaceful, unconditionally loving, supporting and all-embracing love and acceptance for the small "self", for others and for all aspects of life. It does not judge, criticize or diminish, but instead it elevates us.

It perceives our small "selves" through the eyes of unconditional love and perfection, because perfection can only see perfection.

It does not differentiate between "good" and "bad", "light" or "dark". The realm of duality solely coincides with the individualistic perspective of the small "self", which views itself as a separate entity.

And yet, it is only from the perspective of the separate self that we are able to comprehend the dual, fragmented nature of our world.

Each part of ourselves lends us a necessary viewpoint, but it is our higher Self that needs to be in the driver's seat of our reality and override our life with unconditional love, patience and acceptance.

Our only job is to bring our awareness, the non-judgmental witness consciousness of the higher "Self" to the forefront of our everyday existence and dwell in its highest frequency.

When we are one with our highest "Self", we live an awakened life filled with abundance, love and prosperity in all areas of our life.
